As a female founder and business owner, I like to support other woman going after their dreams by launching small fashion businesses.
In honor of Mother’s Day, I am gifting our first 40 orders a “Mini Bucket Cross-Body Bag” handmade by Designer Diadem Abayode of “Diadem’s Designs.”
Each mini bag is unique and sustainably made from traditional Nigerian head wraps called Gelè. Abayode came up with the idea of upcycling the fabric when she was discussing Nigerian outfits when attending events. Nigerian women typically don’t like wearing the same traditional garments more than once to a party - and these wraps now have a second life! The body and strap of the bag are made of heavy-duty canvas and the lining and drawstrings are made of the Gelè fabric. Each bag is different!
Diadem Abayode is the founder and designer of Diadem’s Designs. She attended the University of Delaware to study Apparel Design and Innovation. Abayode now creates products that connect to her roots in Africa. Abayode interned and is now mentored by Ruthie Davis.
Ruthie enjoys collaborating and mentoring fashion entrepreneurs like Diadem to help them find their passions, work smart & hard and live their dreams.
